Two more embassies open in Jerusalem • Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar on Israel’s new priorities in Africa and Latin America, relations with Turkey and Syria, as well as Gaza, Lebanon and the battle for international public opinion.

Two more countries have or soon will open embassies in Jerusalem: Nauru, a Pacific island nation, opened its embassy this week, and Colombia is set to follow in early October. At the same time, preparations are underway to relocate the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC) embassy to Jerusalem.
Following Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s meeting with Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix Tshisekedi on September 1 in Jerusalem, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and his Congolese counterpart Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner held a working meeting. The discussions focused on the practical implementation of relocating the Congolese embassy to Jerusalem and on opening an Israeli embassy in Kinshasa. This would make the DRC the eleventh country to maintain an embassy in Israel’s capital.
