It appears on the flag of the Jewish state and can be seen throughout Israel, especially on ambulances of the Magen David Adom (Red Star of David) rescue service, the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross. It is also commonly worn as jewelry much like a cross.
But when it begins to appear in the movies it makes Jewish hearts (as well as those Gentiles who support Israel and the Jewish people) beat even stronger.
For instance, the Star of David appears on the sweater worn by Seth Rogen in The Night Before as he walks through the snowy streets of New York, joins a Christmas party and even attends a church service. This is not the first time that Rogen has appeared on the silver screen in the same vein. In SuperJew, he plays a standup comic wearing a Superman like T-shirt with the iconic capital “S” embossed over the Jewish star (in place of the traditional pentagon).
