The United States continued its air and sea strikes against Iranian military targets with another wave of attacks on Tuesday evening (local time). According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), dozens of military targets along the Iranian coast and near the Strait of Hormuz were attacked. The aim of the operation is to further restrict Iran’s ability to attack and threaten international shipping.
According to CENTCOM, fighter jets, armed drones, and warships were used in the operation. During the approximately seven-hour operation, missile and drone sites, coastal defense installations, and other military capabilities of the Iranian armed forces and the Revolutionary Guard were attacked with precision munitions.

This marks the fourth consecutive day of American attacks on Iranian military targets. The US launched its operation after Iran again attacked merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Washington accuses Tehran of violating previously agreed-upon agreements and endangering the safety of one of the most important international shipping lanes.
Over the past few days, the United States had already launched several waves of airstrikes. According to the US military, more than 80 military targets were initially destroyed, including air defense systems, command and control centers, coastal radar installations, anti-ship missiles, and more than 60 speedboats belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. Subsequent waves of attacks targeted additional military installations, including missile sites, drone facilities, and further coastal defense systems.

US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that military pressure on Iran would continue. At the same time, he made it clear that further attacks were possible if Tehran did not return to negotiations and cease its attacks on international shipping.
The Iranian leadership responded with harsh threats. Representatives of the Revolutionary Guard declared that all energy exports from the region could be halted if Iranian oil exports continued to be obstructed. At the same time, Tehran announced it would continue its measures against shipping.
The latest wave of attacks underscores Washington’s consistent pursuit of its military strategy. While the US claims the strikes are solely intended to weaken Iran’s military capabilities to threaten international shipping, Tehran has so far shown no willingness to back down. This makes a further escalation of the conflict likely.
