Voices that are generally supportive of Israel are openly wondering why Israel seems so aggressive of late. Those taking the notion too far are starting to blame Israel itself for the continuing conflict in the Middle East. US President Donald Trump came dangerously close to doing so in his expletive-laced outburst yesterday.
Three points related to this topic were raised in a podcast I listened to today by a highly-educated and thoughtful gentleman who must be described as pro-Israel.
Why flatten Gaza?
He first argued that Israel had gone too far in its response to the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas-ruled Gaza, and in so doing risked irreparable damage to its global standing.
It was suggested that Israel should view its global reputation as more important than just about anything else, otherwise it wouldn’t have the support it needed in times of real crisis.

Regarding Smotrich and Ben Gvir, :
With limited information on the views of the current Israeli Government, Smotrich and Ben Gvir seem to be the only ones who seek to put into effect the ancient prophecies ?
By saying Israel couldn’t exist without American support is really going too far. Israel existence depends SOLELY ON HASHEM. The one that neither sleeps nor slumbers is the ultimate protector of Israel that their very survival is dependent on. America remains a great ally.
Unless the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob opens our eyes, and this has to be personal, we are not able to see His plan for Israel that is spread all over the pages of the Bible.
Here is just one example.
Genesis 32:24-30. There is a deep study involved here, but to bring out a central point and especially in light of this latest war in Iran, I refer to verse 28.
In our time we are witnessing the fulfilling of what is written here.
