Why do Bible believers from London to Laos to Los Angeles even care what happens in this little land?

It’s because the Biblical Creator laid claim to it in a unique and precedent-setting manner.

It’s because the scriptures make a startling claim that the Supreme Being to whom all the earth belongs, initiated the divine Kingdom breaking into the world in this very Land of Israel, with His seed-people of the covenant promise. The broad sweep of the Bible shows the Kingdom re-establishing God’s claim to this land and people – and expanding in scope and reach. And, yes, expanding in confrontations with all other claims to human sovereignty and allegiance everywhere.

Taking a side in that confrontation includes, among many other expressions, an aspect of joining the Battle for Israel, for example in prayer.

Israel Today has put together a resource list of some of the key scriptures outlining Israel’s role in that worldwide epic of history, for you. Far from being an ethnocentric idiosyncrasy, an orientation toward Israel as the capital of a global divine plan, provides anchoring encouragement for a vibrant faith remnant in all nations. It gives faith inspiration and connectivity even in the farthest islands, to the ends of the earth.

This resource list includes a taste of the promises in the Hebrew scriptures for all who join themselves to the God of Israel, as well as some instructions…

Genesis 12:1-3

Now the Lord said to Abram, “… I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who curses you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Psalm 2:1-9

Why do the nations rage
and the peoples plot in vain?

He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.

Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,

“As for me, I have set my King
on Zion, my holy hill
.”

Psalm 83:1-18

O God, do not keep silence; do not hold your peace or be still, O God! For behold, your enemies make an uproar; those who hate you have raised their heads. They lay crafty plans against your people; they consult together against your treasured ones. They say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more!” For they conspire with one accord; against you they make a covenant.

Psalm 122:6

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they prosper who love you!

Isaiah 11:11-12

In that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that remains of his people, …He will raise a signal for the nations
and will assemble the banished of Israel… from the four corners of the earth.

Isaiah 24:14-15

…from the west they acclaim the LORD’s majesty. Therefore in the east give glory to the LORD; exalt the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea.

Isaiah 40:1-2

Comfort, ye. Comfort My people!” says your God. Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, that her warfare is completed, that her iniquity is pardoned.

Isaiah 62:1

For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not be quiet, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a burning torch.

Isaiah 62:6-7

I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;

They shall never hold their peace day or night.

You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent,

And give Him no rest till He establishes

And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

Jeremiah 3:17

At that time Jerusalem shall be called the throne of the Lord, and all nations shall gather to it, to the presence of the Lord in Jerusalem, and they shall no more stubbornly follow their own evil heart.

Daniel 12:1

At that time Michael, the great prince, the protector of your people, shall arise. There shall be a time of anguish, such as has never occurred since nations first came into existence. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book.

Joel 3:2-3

I will assemble all the nations.

I will lead them down into the Valley of the Judgment of the LORD

And put them all on trial, and judge them

because of their treatment of my people, my inheritance Israel,

Whom they scattered among the nations,

And divided my land for themselves.

Zechariah 2:8

For thus said the Lord of hosts, after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you, for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye.

Zechariah 12:3

On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it.

Luke 21:24

They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Romans 11:1-36

I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means!

Ephesians 3:6

This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs…

  1. Robert's World says:

Abba, Father, May your kingdom come, may your will, which is expressed in these Scriptures, be done….. For yours is the kingdom, the glory forever and ever.

    Great Scripture selection!

  2. Lois Heal Bright says:

Thank you for these wonderful Bible verses!
Israel is always upon my heart in prayer and a Bible verse that has also been special to me over the years is Isaiah 61:11, “For as the earth brings forth its bud, as the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.”
We truly serve a powerful and amazing God!
