Members of the opposition should “apologize and give thanks for the great achievement in Lebanon, on the ground itself and on the political level,” he said.
“In practice, Hezbollah will only grow stronger, and instead of defeating it, Israel is coming to terms with its very existence,” said Israel’s national security minister.
“We brought the people of Lebanon to the understanding that we’re not the enemy. Hezbollah is,” said Yechiel Leiter, Israel’s U.S. ambassador.
Iran’s promises of restraint mask a strategy of perpetual conflict, using Hezbollah and diplomacy alike as tools of war.
Israel should not be asked to endure Hezbollah’s military presence merely to placate diplomats.
“Would you wait until the drones were buzzing over Paris?” Danny Danon, the Israeli ambassador to the global body, asked his French counterpart.
