Under the Law of Return, Israel will take any Ukrainian Jew willing to come, no questions asked. Where there is debate is over whether or not Israel should open its gates to non-Jews seeking refuge. As usual, opinions on the matter run down the Left-Right political divide, with the former being in favor.
But there is a hidden agenda behind the nice words of humanitarian aid and human rights. In fact, this agenda is no longer hidden. Consider the following tweet from Eran Etzion, which reads:
“What is more dangerous to Israel –50,000 brainwashed Bibists [ie. Netanyahu’s supporters], kosher Jews whose moral code is Jewish superiority and adoration of despots, or 50,000 non-Jewish Ukrainian refugees, running for their lives from a murderous despot and seeking refuge in the Jewish state? If the answer is not obvious to you, you are part of the problem.”
Now, one only wishes that this Eran Etzion was no more than a low-life progressive skinhead. But alas, that is not the case. He is the former Deputy Head of Israel’s National Security...
