Significant Scripture

Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him, saying, “You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!”(Acts 11:1-3)

Your flight ticket will call your destination Tel Aviv, but Ben Gurion International Airport is a few kilometres beyond the city. Dropping down from over the Mediterranean, your plane seems to hang for a moment above the golden beaches, shimmering towers and spreading white suburbs of the most modern Jewish metropolis on the planet.

If you have a window-seat looking southward, you might see a small, yellow-coloured neighbourhood stuck almost like a limpet on the edge of the city. This is Jaffa. For many Christian visitors to Israel, like you, it will be the first stop on their tour. And, as you will learn, there is a wonderfully meaningful reason for this.
