Since the horrendous events of October 7th, the Tkuma region in the Gaza envelope has suffered great devastation, affecting virtually every part of what was once a vibrant and thriving community.
Amidst the devastation arose an initiative established by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “The TKUMA Directorate” – a massive undertaking to restore and revive the Tkuma region, which includes 47 communities and 63,000 residents.
The Israeli government allocated 19 billion shekels (5 billion USD) over a five-year period to rebuild these broken yet resilient communities, with the vision of restoring the region and transforming it into an attraction for its residents and investing in growing business and technological upgrading. With 156 million shekels allocated to expand medical services, the agricultural sector received 5 million shekels to sustain farming initiatives. This initiative also plans on investing in education, community bonds, and the physical restoration of the homes and infrastructures rendered useless or unsafe due to terror.
