The organization Ad Kan has released a statement detailing how Hamas operatives in Europe orchestrate the Gaza flotillas, strategically deploying prominent activists like Greta Thunberg. The report states:
Look closely at the photo. Right: Greta Thunberg, human rights and environmental activist. Left: Zaher Birawi, the head of Hamas’s headquarters in Europe. What are they doing together aboard the ship “Madleen” just before its departure to “break the Gaza blockade”?

We at Ad Kan are revealing the truth today: This is not a “human rights flotilla” project but a Hamas flotilla in Europe! Since 2018, we have been tracking the Gaza flotilla industry. Behind the guise of “aid for Gaza” hides a perfectly organized international propaganda network led by Hamas. These ships carry hardly any humanitarian aid—rather, they are equipped with communication and filming equipment.
About three weeks ago, a new organization was founded: the Global Sumud Flotilla. The activists, including Greta Thunberg, are preparing “the largest attempt ever to break the Gaza blockade”—with dozens of ships and participants from 44 countries, set to depart from Spanish ports at the end of August. Who is really behind this?
In recent years, Hamas has refined its methods. Outwardly, prominent human rights activists and influencers take the stage, but in the background, Hamas operatives pull the strings. Here are the key figures we have uncovered:
- Zaher Birawi, head of Hamas’s headquarters in Europe. Born in 1961 near Nablus, he now lives in London. In the 1990s, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin sent him to establish Hamas structures in London. Birawi supported suicide attacks in the past. In 2013, the Israeli Ministry of Justice officially classified him as a member of a terrorist organization. He is a co-founder of the “Freedom Flotilla Coalition” and chairman of the international coordination committee for the “Great Return March” of 2018, which was explicitly supported by Hamas websites.
- Mohammed Kutsch, successor to Amin Abu Rashid as a Hamas leader in the Netherlands. According to the Diaspora Ministry, he was a co-organizer of the 2024 pogrom against Maccabi Tel Aviv fans in Amsterdam. Our investigations show him alongside Thiago Avilia, a flotilla participant, during a ship stopover.
- Amin Abu Rashid, raised in Lebanon, now in the Netherlands. Hamas appointed him as a “goodwill ambassador.” He is well-known from our “Infiltrated” investigation, in which he advocated for Israel’s destruction. After his arrest for transferring funds to Hamas, he was classified as a Hamas member and terrorist in the United States.
- Rashad al-Baz, co-organizer of the latest “Madleen” flotilla. He acts as a representative of the Hamas-founded “International Alliance to Break the Gaza Blockade.” Until February 2023, he led aid convoys from Europe via Egypt to Gaza, where he was received by Hamas leader Razi Hamed—the same Hamed who declared: “We must strike Israel with full force. The ‘Al-Aqsa Flood’ was only the beginning. There will be a second, third, and fourth.”
The truth is plain to see: A blatant, shameless collaboration between human rights activists like Greta Thunberg and Hamas operatives. She apparently has no issue being photographed with a Hamas functionary on the ship.
We at Ad Kan call on the Israeli government to finally take off the kid gloves in the fight against Hamas in Europe. The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister must present the world with evidence of the connections between Hamas and the flotillas. We have handed over all information to Mossad and security authorities. It is time to freeze the bank accounts of Hamas operatives in Europe, impose sanctions, expose the truth, and ensure they face both public and legal consequences for their actions.
