Not a few actors in Israel’s political and security leadership doubt the feasibility of US President Donald Trump’s vision for Gaza. Many speak of “naivety,” particularly on the part of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the two individuals to whom Trump has entrusted this task. Yet, based on what was revealed at the first meeting of the Board of Peace, a genuine historical opportunity may have formed right under our noses to turn Gaza into a true Riviera—drawing on the lessons from decades of mistakes.

A strong, highly professional, and balanced core has emerged, comprising an international mix: Americans from diplomacy, military, and business such as Kushner and Witkoff, US generals, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
