Israeli security circles currently assess the likelihood of a near-term resumption of fighting against Iran at 50-50. Everything now depends on the decision of US President Donald Trump. At the same time, there are growing signs that Trump could order military action against Iran, apparently after concluding that Tehran is not prepared to accept his conditions.
Israel and the United States are preparing intensively for a possible renewal of the fighting. Close coordination talks are taking place between senior officials in the Israeli military and the Mossad. Mossad chief David Barnea even traveled to the United States for final consultations. The trip was described as a “farewell visit” before the end of his term later this month.
