Loneliness is a big problem, above all for singles. Intuition Robotics, located adjacent to Tel Aviv, has developed a robot that communicates with its owner, reminds him or her of appointments, provides suggestions for activities and far more. ElliQ is voice-operated, which means that there is no need to type anything in or search on monitors. And on those occasions when it’s not all that stimulating to converse with a robot, ElliQ can even initiate contact with family members, whether via Skype, WhatsApp or other similar applications. Related is the problem of what someone who lives alone should do in the event of an accident or other emergency when a telephone is out of reach and cries for help go unheard. Kytera Technologies has developed a solution whereby the customer wears an armband that tracks his or her physical condition.
