Zeynab bint Al-Harith
Tall and beautiful Zeynab (27) was the niece of Marhab ibn Al-Harith, the head of the Huqayq family who was killed in the duel with Ali bin Abi Talib. Rather than become a sex-slave, Zeynab chose to convert to Islam. Female converts are honored and freed from servitude. “O prophet of Allah, my faith in you is unquestionable,” she says to the thrilled Mohammed. “A kingly feast I will make in your honor,” she smiles at him.
Zeynab knows her history. She knows the story of Ya’el, who tricked Sisera, the military commander of King Jabin of Hazor. She plans to kill Mohammed, no matter the consequences. She knows that Mohammed’s favorite food is a roasted lamb’s shoulder. Together with her trusted helper, Yamama, who fears that poisoning the prophet will seal the fate of the Jews, Zeynab nevertheless serves it to Mohammed’s company, while silently praying Samson’s final prayer: “Please, God, strengthen me just once more.”
