According to a study by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Israeli teachers from the first to sixth grades earn less than their counterparts in all 34 other countries of the OECD. An elementary school teacher in Israel earns about 6,000 shekels ($1,580) per month. Teachers in Luxembourg, the country at the top of the OECD table, earn over $5,400 a month, while in Turkey a teacher makes nearly $2,200.
