The first is obvious. Israel is already a world-recognized leader in the increasingly important field of cybersecurity. In particular, the Israeli firm Check Point Software, which developed the first firewall, remains a key player in this arena. And every year, new Israeli cybersecurity companies are emerging to meet the growing demand for protection in an increasingly interconnected world.
The second industry Netanyahu highlighted is the auto industry. Israel does not produce cars, and has no plans to do so in the future. But many of the new technologies considered must-haves in newer cars are being developed in Israel. Just about every major automobile manufacturer now has a research and development center in Israel, and there are currently about 500 smaller local startups helping to shape the future of transportation.
