And having a president in the White House who leans toward the Evangelical side of the spectrum is nothing new. At the same time, Israel has done its best to draw a line between Evangelical Christians and their Messianic Jewish brethren. While the former are celebrated as allies, the latter are still largely reviled as a fifth column seeking to “steal” Jewish souls. Certain government policies have even compelled Evangelical organizations operating in Israel to all but shun their local fellow believers in Yeshua (Jesus).
Trump might be the president to (unwittingly) bring that situation to an end. Attached to his administration are strong Evangelical Christians like Vice President Mike Pence and Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, devout Jews like special envoy Jason Greenblatt and converted daughter Ivanka Trump, and, yes, even openly Messianic Jews like White House legal counsel Jay Sekulow, a close confidant to the president.
