Two people were killed and several others injured in one of the Iranian missile volleys toward central Israel on Monday. According to reports from Israeli media, the fatalities occurred in Yehud, east of Tel Aviv. Rescue teams continued searching several impact sites hours after the attack and checked the affected areas for possible additional explosive devices.

According to emergency services, the missile carried a cluster warhead, dispersing numerous smaller explosive submunitions over a larger area in the center of the country. This resulted in simultaneous impacts at multiple locations.

Earlier, missile sirens sounded across large parts of central Israel, including the Greater Tel Aviv area. Shortly afterward, several explosions were heard. Police, fire department, and rescue services arrived soon after at various locations where debris and explosive devices had fallen.

According to emergency services, impact sites were reported in Tel Aviv, Bat Yam, Holon, Or Yehuda, Petah Tikva, and Yehud, among others. The police also mentioned additional sites in the center of the country where missile parts or smaller explosive devices had landed.

Police specialists subsequently searched for possible duds. Such devices can remain dangerous even hours after an attack. Authorities  urged the public not to touch suspicious objects and to immediately notify security forces.

In an attack a day earlier in the same area, Magen David Adom rescue service treated six injured people, including a man around 40 years old in serious condition and a 25-year-old man with moderate injuries. Others sustained minor injuries.

During a missile alert, a traffic accident also occurred on Highway 5, the Trans-Samaria Highway. A truck driver collided with a passenger car after the siren was triggered. Two people were injured, one of them seriously.

Despite the high interception rate of Israel’s missile defense systems, falling debris and explosive devices continue to cause damage and casualties in the country.
