Israel Police officials reported on Sunday that last week they arrested five Muslims suspected of perpetrating several attacks against Orthodox Jews on their way to the Western Wall in Jerusalem’s Old City.
In one instance, police responded to a call by a local Jewish monitoring group and found that a group of three Muslim minors were violently harassing Jewish passersby.
Police believe that at least one of the suspects managed to flee the scene, but quickly returned after changing clothes and resumed the attacks.
In another case, police arrested two adult suspects who attacked an Orthodox Jewish man as he walked through the Old City.
The suspects all remain under remand while undergoing questioning.
The Israel Police vowed to “act with all the tools and means at our disposal in order to arrest and bring to justice those suspected of acts of violence and bullying for the sake of public peace and personal safety.”
