Aharon Mizrahi, 76, from Ramat Gan died on Monday from injuries sustained during the Iranian rocket attack on Israel in June. Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv confirmed that Mizrahi passed away after four months of intensive care.

The attack occurred on June 13, 2025, when Iran launched a massive wave of missiles and drones at Israel – the most severe direct attack from Tehran on Israeli territory to date. One of the rockets struck Mizrahi’s apartment building in central Ramat Gan. His partner, Etti Cohen Angel, was killed instantly, while he was rescued with life-threatening injuries.

In the weeks that followed, doctors fought to save his life, but his internal injuries were so severe that his condition deteriorated significantly. With his death, the number of fatalities from the Iranian attacks in June rises to 29, with more than 3,000 others injured.

The June attack: Iran’s heaviest barrage on Israel

The Iranian offensive on June 13 was dubbed the “Day of Retaliation Strike.” Within a few hours, Tehran fired hundreds of ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, most of which were intercepted by Israel’s air defense systems, including Arrow 3, David’s Sling, and Iron Dome. Nevertheless, several missiles struck densely populated areas, including Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, Rehovot, and Ashdod.

Some projectiles hit residential buildings directly, while others caused fires and structural damage. People lost their lives in several cities. The Israeli military described it as an “unprecedented attack on civilian targets” and vowed to “combat the Iranian threat at its root.”

Aftermath and silent victims

While many of those injured at the time have since been discharged, others continue to grapple with severe consequences. Relatives described Aharon Mizrahi as a person who “never lost hope or humor despite his pain.” Ramat Gan’s mayor, Carmel Shama-Hacohen, called him “a symbol of the civilian population paying the price of international aggression.”

Four months after the attack, the damage in Ramat Gan has largely been repaired, but the psychological toll remains. Many residents of the city still report anxiety at the sound of every siren. Israel’s Health Ministry notes that hundreds of people sought psychological support following the June attack.
