A Gift Given in Return

For many years, Itzhak and Sima Peres have been providing warm meals for patients spending the Sabbath at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.

The hospital provides only the normal daily fare on the day of rest, so the couple, at their own initiative and expense, prepares and serves traditional dishes to make the Sabbath special for the sick.

Now Itzhak and Sima, both 49 years old, have also been blessed with a special gift. The couple, after being married for 30 years, finally had their first child, a baby girl. She was born—fittingly—at Hadassah.
