The latest developments in the Iran dossier and the intention of the incoming government in Israel to take military action against the Islamic Republic’s nuclear weapons program is a major topic in the Jewish state these days.
Uprising in Iran
Let’s start with the state of affairs in Iran where mass protests against the fanatical regime have now entered their eighth week, with a spike in the demonstrations on Wednesday this week.
These protests are mainly driven by young Iranians, many of them students and women, who are no longer afraid to take to the streets without the so-called ‘Hijab,’ the head covering required by the regime in Tehran.
About 350 Iranian civilians have now been killed, including 50 children, and more than 15,000 Iranians have been arrested.
The regime has now sentenced two of the detained demonstrators to death and hundreds more are expected to face the same fate.
Mossad involved?
Iran continues to claim that the United States and Israel are behind the uprising, and accuses neighboring Azerbaijan of harboring Mossad teams that instigate the demonstrations.
Azerbaijan’s security services last week arrested a number of Pakistanis suspected of plotting to assassinate Israelis on behalf of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps in Iran.
Relations between Iran and Azerbaijan have become tense again after a brief period of relaxation following these developments.
The new tensions between the two Islamic states are also related to the further improvement in the relationship between Israel and Azerbaijan.
Benny Gantz, Israel’s Defense Minister, was in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, last week. Gantz held talks there about the situation with Iran and most likely about new arms deliveries to the Muslim country.
Iran, meanwhile, announced on Wednesday that it again had arrested a Mossad spy, but these claims have to be taken with a grain of salt because the regime regularly claims it busted Mossad squads, but has never delivered the evidence that these people were indeed Israeli spies.
Iranian assassination plots
Members of the Iranian secret service also attempted to assassinate an Israeli businessman in Georgia last week.
Georgia’s domestic intelligence agency was likely tipped off by Mossad and prevented the assassination.
In the United Kingdom, three journalists from the news site Iran International were threatened with assassination by members of the Iranian secret service last week.
Hundreds of Iranians in the UK also received a letter from the government warning them of kidnappings and other means of transferring them to Iran, where they will then be sentenced to death.
The British government subsequently summoned the top Iranian diplomat in the UK and told him not to use UK soil for its war against dissidents.
In the United States, it was further discovered that Iran spies on dissidents who have found asylum in the country.
In this way, the regime in Tehran tries to silence any form of dissent and to reduce the influence of the opposition abroad on the protests at home.
Iran’s imperialist activities
Anyone who now thinks that the regime is only busy suppressing the uprising, which is the largest since 1979, the year of the Islamic Revolution, is wrong.
Iran continues at full steam to work on its plan to become a regional superpower.
Last week it was revealed that the regime of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has developed a hypersonic ballistic missile capable of carrying a nuclear weapon.
These missiles can fly in and out of the atmosphere and are maneuverable, making them difficult to intercept, even for advanced Israeli anti-missile shields such as David’s Sling and the Arrow system.
The state-controlled media in Iran subsequently announced that the new missile can fly to Tel Aviv in “400 seconds.”
This new development is being followed with suspicion in Israel and has brought Israeli military action against Iran one step closer.
Rafael Grossi, the director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), expressed concern at the announcement that Iran has developed a hypersonic missile.
According to Grossi, this development says a lot about the nature of Iran’s nuclear program.
The IAEA previously announced that Iran now has enough highly enriched uranium (60 percent) to break out into a nuclear weapon in a short time, through further reprocessing to 90 percent.
Two months ago the IAEA published a report in which it revealed that Iran had a stockpile of 56.6 kilograms of 60 percent enriched uranium, enough for the production of two nuclear devices when further enriched to the necessary 90 percent.
IAF continues drills for an attack on Iran
The Israeli Air Force (IAF), meanwhile, continues to prepare for military action against Iran within the territory of the Islamic Republic.
A number of F-16 and F-15 fighter jets recently held another exercise over the Golan Heights simulating an attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.
The planes flew at very low altitudes to avoid detection by radar systems and then ascended over Syria to an altitude of over 20,000 feet, after which the attack on the nuclear facilities in Iran was simulated, according to the Israeli news site N12.
Incoming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who won the recent elections, will decide to attack Iran upon his return to the Balfour Street residence in Jerusalem, according to a confidante.
Tzachi Hanegbi, a former Israeli minister and adviser to Netanyahu, said immediately after the November 1 election that Netanyahu had told him the attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities could no longer be delayed.
Netanyahu is acutely aware of the situation and knows that the US, under President Joe Biden still prefers diplomacy to deter Iran from a nuclear weapon.
MABAM campaign against Iran
The IAF, meanwhile, continues its so-called MABAM campaign against Iran. MABAM (Milchama bin HaMilchamot) is the Hebrew acronym for “War between the wars.”
Israeli F-35 Adir stealth warplanes flew to northwest Iraq last week where they attacked a weapons convoy.
Containers containing advanced Iranian surface-to-surface missiles and disassembled unmanned attack aircraft destined for Hezbollah, according to foreign media, were destroyed in the attack.
Furthermore, two bases of the Iranian-sponsored militia Fatemiyoun Brigade and the Zainabiyoun Brigade were attacked.
These attacks killed 18 members of these militias and a member of Fatemiyoun said at least ten IAF strikes had been recorded.
Iran has now reportedly developed a new missile that is capable of downing the F-35 jets.
The Sayyad 4B missile has an engine that uses both hybrid and liquid fuel and has been paired with the Bavar-373 anti-missile and aircraft system.
Last week, the IAF also carried out attacks on hangars near the airport of the Syrian city of Homs and on weapons depots near Damascus International Airport for the same reason.
On Wednesday, a suicide drone which came most likely from Iran or Yemen attacked an Israeli-owned tanker in the Gulf of Oman.
The tanker Pacific Zircon is owned by Israeli billionaire Idan Ofer and was attacked in international waters 240 kilometers off the coast of Oman.
Other imperialist activities
The regime in Iran also continues its attempts to send arms and ammunition to the Ansar Allah (Houthi) militia in Yemen.
Last week, an Iranian fishing boat was detained in the international waters of the Gulf of Oman by the US Navy.
The ship was carrying a large amount of chemicals used to produce explosives, and it took days to empty the ship after which it was sunk by the Americans.
Saudi Arabia, furthermore, informed the US government on November 1 that it had received intelligence about an imminent new Iranian attack on the Kingdom’s oil facilities.
The US and British Air Forces scrambled a large number of fighter jets that patrolled the borders between Iran and Iraq as well as the Persian Gulf, and this probably prevented the attack from being carried out.
Iran also staged cross-border attacks in Iraqi Kurdistan last week and said it was targeting “terrorists” who were supposedly behind the nationwide uprising against the regime.
Increasing cooperation with Russia
In addition, Iran continues to expand cooperation with Russia in its war against Ukraine, and has delivered a large number of Shahed 136 attack drones to Russia via civilian cargo planes that were flying to Moscow recently.
Iran will also supply ballistic missiles to Russia, it was reported last week.
In exchange for the arms supplies, Russia gave Western weapons to Iran, which the Islamic Republic will then use to do reverse engineering and produce its own version of the weapons.
Also, the Russians reportedly provided the blueprints for the production of the new hypersonic missile to Iran, and are helping the regime in Tehran with its nuclear program.
All this shows that the regime in Tehran poses a mortal threat not only to Israel and Arab states in the Persian Gulf region, but also increasingly to world peace.
