I am only one of those who say that the present government is the first anti-Zionist government in the short history of modern Israel, but why would I say such a thing?
Before going any further, it will be helpful to be reminded of Yigal Alon, who as Israel’s Foreign Minister lashed out at the 1975 UN resolution which said that “Zionism is a form of racism and racial discrimination.” In what later became an article entitled “Slander and Truth,” Alon stated: “I hereby state explicitly and decisively that anti-Zionism is but a synonym for Antisemitism. Supporting a decision denouncing Zionism is support of Antisemitism and encouragement of [military] attacks on Israel.” Four decades or so later, despite many protests, countries like the US, Australia, the UK, France and others, are finally adopting the notion of anti-Zionism as a form of antisemitism. With that in mind, let’s move on.
