Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will travel to the United States on Sunday aboard the ‘Wing of Zion’ for a highly important political visit. The most significant part of this visit is a face-to-face meeting with US President Donald Trump, during which the two leaders will try to formulate a common policy on various issues. Israel attaches great importance to this meeting and sees it as an opportunity to help shape such US Middle East policy.
Trump has his own instincts and distinguishes between pre-January 20 and post-January 20 Middle East policy, but decisions have not yet been made in his administration on many issues, which is why this meeting is so critical. President Trump sets the direction of policy, and Netanyahu is interested in influencing this process toward a final political strategy.
