Different groups in Israel continue to prepare for the day the Third Temple is built upon Jerusalem’s holy hill.
This week, at the height of Sukkot, Israelis belonging to the Tribe of Levi have been summoned to the southern steps of the Temple Mount to offer songs and prayers to the Almighty just as their priestly forefathers did.
Organized by the Jewish Quarter Development Company, promotional posts for the event appeared on Hebrew-language religious news sites and read:
“Are you a Levite? Come Sing Just as They Did at the Holy Temple”
The group was expecting some 800 levitical Israelis to sign up and gather at the large archaeological park at the Southern Steps of the Temple Mount. There, on Thursday evening, they will offer the same liturgical songs their biblical forebears sang in the courts of the Temple.
One religious news site titled the promotional post “Getting ready for the real thing.”
And, as noted, there are numerous groups in Israel that are preparing for the Third Temple, the building of which the Bible indicates will directly preceded the coming of Messiah.
Among those efforts was the recent importing of five red heifers needed for purification ceremonies without which none of the Temple sacrifices can be performed.
Quote: “…there are numerous groups in Israel that are preparing for the Third Temple, the building of which the Bible indicates will directly preceded the coming of Messiah.” I am very interested to know what Bible verses these numerous groups are referring to in preparation for the Third Temple.
I completely understand the glorious occasion of the dedication of Solomon’s temple. When in the presence of the elders of Israel, the Levites took up the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and as sacrifices were being made, brought the ark into the inner sanctuary of the temple. And when the priests came out from the Most Holy Place, accompanied by the singing of the Levites, along with the cymbals, stringed instruments, harps, and sounding of trumpets–“when the trumpeters and singers were as one, praising and thanking the LORD, saying, ‘For He is good, for His mercy endures forever’, the house of the LORD was filled with a cloud so that the priests could not continue to minister, ‘for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.’ ” (2 Chronicles 5)
This glorious scene at the dedication of Solomon’s temple, truly sets my focus on the fulfillment of God’s presence with us today through the sacrifice of the Lamb of God, Christ Jesus. And as we come before Him with our praises and instruments of song, His presence in our midst is overwhelming.
What a glorious day it will be when we see our Redeemer face to face; and that day is coming! We will bow before Him with cries of thankfulness for His Sacrifice for us and His preparation to allow us access into His presence, the presence of His Holy Spirit. I take God’s Word very seriously in Ephesians 4:30, “do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”
