Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s opponents among the people criticize him and his government around the clock. Harsh expressions, curses and insults are used against Netanyahu – especially on social networks and in the media, Bibi is verbally abused nonstop. Despite growing protests in the country, Netanyahu hardly reacts to the vitriol directed at him. Even in the Bible, the kings and leaders of Israel were cursed by the people. Is Bibi as patient with his opponents as King David? How can one judge the opponents of Netanyahu’s government today in light of biblical history? According to the Bible, is it even permissible to curse a king, leader or prime minister of the people of Israel?
King David speaks in the Psalms full of pain about the persecutions and accusations of his enemies:
“All day long my enemies taunt me; those who rail against me use my name as a curse.” (Psalm 102:8)
