The mainstream international media likes to emphasize only that latter, more negative aspect. At the Kalandia Checkpoint on the northern edge of Jerusalem’s municipal boundaries, Israel Border Police officers were recently alerted to the presence of a Palestinian mother and her three children. Something was off. It was a cold day, and the children were inadequately dressed. They didn’t even have shoes.
