MembersGovernors’ Day in Israel?

Anyone seeking proof of the warm relations between Israel and the United States found it recently in the parking lot of the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem.

Two American governors of neighboring states–Illinois and Wisconsin–casually bumped into one another on their respective ways to and from meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Bruce Rauner, the 60-year-old Republican governor of Illinois, is a successful businessman with a personal net wealth estimated at a half-billion dollars. He was in the region to promote trade between Israel and his state. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, 50, was in Israel for much the same reason–trade relations. Of course, given that Walker previously was and may once again be a contender for the White House, his visit might have carried additional significance.
