Remarks by senior Palestinian leader explain precisely why Trump’s Gaza vision has almost zero chance of success.

A concerted effort was made to create distance between Hamas and the rest of Palestinian Arab society following the Oct. 7, 2023 invasion of southern Israel.

From Washington to Paris to Abu Dhabi, the world was adamant that the barbarism unleashed against Israel was not perpetrated by “the Palestinians” and did not represent them. Hamas alone was responsible.

“Hamas does not represent most Palestinians,” insisted then-US President Joe Biden.

A flurry of public opinion polls in the months that followed showing broad Palestinian support for what Hamas had done failed to sway the predetermined position of the international community, and in particular the mainstream international media.
