These are usually not classic opponents of Israel. They are not activists of the BDS movement, not representatives of a secular anti-Zionism, and often not people who are hostile toward the Jewish people. On the contrary. Many of them have loved Israel, prayed for Israel, visited Israel, defended Israel, and felt connected to the Jewish people for decades. Precisely for this reason, their criticism deserves attention. A few days ago, I received a letter from a former reader and long-time customer. His words are representative of a development we have increasingly observed in recent years.
He wrote: “Yes, the reason for my cancellation has to do with my different perspective, which I do not find at Israel Today. That is to say, I consider it wrong to equate the State of Israel and Judaism one-to-one with biblical Israel, the descendants of Jacob; however, that is exactly how it consistently comes across at Israel Today. Certainly, I do see some overlap, but it is my personal conviction that in the State of Israel and in Judaism there is clearly...

I stand with you Aviel.
The Word of GOD does not change. What HE has said about Israel does not change. Israel is chosen by GOD according to HIS WORD. It’s in Deuteronomy. It’s in Jeremiah. It’s in Genesis. It’s in Revelation. There are many more places we can look. Psalm 121:4
Numbers 6:24-26
Thank you for addressing this important topic, Aviel.
I hope many will take up the same subject so we can address every reason Christians use for falling away from their support of Israel.
In my thinking it is because they never understood what God was doing with Israel in the first place! For one thing Christians expecting Israel to act saved before most are spiritually restored is crazy. The restoration of the State of Israel was just the first phase of God’s restoration of your nation.
Tucker Carlson has whipped up a lot of the criticism because he doesn’t understand the first thing about God’s intentions with Israel. Tucker may criticize the war against Hamas after October 7th, but the precedent of how it was conducted is entirely biblical. No one ever defeats brutal enemies by restraint in response. The biblical wars made that really clear, and now again Israel is having to fight in the same way. When Israel left aggressive attackers alive to fight another day in biblical times, the other day always came around again. It still does today. No nation can leave aggressive Islamist attackers in their nations free to attack at will. Europe and the UK are starting to get that, and that’s where we are quickly coming to in the U.S. too.
There is no excuse that can fly for Christians falling away from supporting Israel because it is God’s desire from us to stand with Israel and for Israel’s salvation. Everything you wrote about Israel of the Bible and the Israel of today is true. You all are one in the same, and if a Christian cannot recognize it, the problem lies with them, not Israel. Our part is to keep up the educating of Christians on the subject because some of them will see and recover their own integrity before God.
By the way, Aviel, I love what I’ve been seeing from Israel Today in posts on Facebook. Excellent job. I especially like it that you made this truly important article available to the public and not behind a pay wall. Subjects this important to both Christian understanding and toward the support of Israel need to be shared freely.
Thanks again. Excellent article.
Not surprised at the so called Christian world – it’s what the Apostle Paul explained would happen in his letter to the Thessalonians chapter 2 – read full chapter. Verse 11 “God will send them strong delusion, that they believe a lie.” The result of turning away from the truth. Verse 3 speaks about the falling away first. A calculated rejection of truth. Jesus is coming soon and Paul tells us not to be troubled or shaken about this rejection as the fate for the rejection of truth is already sealed.
