The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, issued a stern warning to Israel on Tuesday against further airstrikes in southern Lebanon. “This cannot go on; everything has its limits,” Qassem said in a televised address.
He emphasized that the current ceasefire agreement applies exclusively to the southern part of the country. “There can be no talk of disarming Hezbollah or other measures north of the Litani River,” he declared.
At the same time, Qassem rejected demands from the Lebanese government to collect his organization’s weapons arsenals. Hezbollah will not give up its weapons, as they are “necessary for self-defense.”

Meanwhile, the Israeli army continues its targeted operations against Hezbollah positions and infrastructure in southern Lebanon. The goal is to prevent the rebuilding of the military capabilities of the Iran-backed Shiite militia. In recent days, several facilities in the Houla region were destroyed, which the IDF described as being used as terrorist infrastructure.
According to the army, weapons and explosives had already been discovered and neutralized there last month. The presence of such bases violates the agreements between Israel and Lebanon, according to a statement. The IDF will continue to act to eliminate any threat to the State of Israel.

In the meantime, Israeli TV channel Kanal 12 reported that the army had presented the government with various options for expanding military action in Lebanon. Israel sees, it was said, that the Lebanese state is doing too little to curb Hezbollah’s power. If the militia continues its attacks, Israel will intensify its strikes—even at the risk of escalation.
Tensions along the Israeli-Lebanese border thus remain high. While the Lebanese government officially adheres to the ceasefire, Hezbollah does not consider itself bound by it. Israel’s military, in turn, makes clear that it will not tolerate the buildup of new attack positions.
