Houthi missile hits Ben Gurion Airport

Missile landed in open area next to internal road leading to Terminal 3; several light injuries reported.

A ballistic missile from Yemen triggered sirens throughout central Israel on Sunday morning, including in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and an impact was reported near Israel’s Ben-Gurion Airport.

“Following the sounding of sirens in several areas of Israel, several attempts were made to intercept a missile fired from Yemen,” the Israel Defense Forces said. “Reports of a hit in central Israel were received. The details are currently being verified.”

Numerous social media accounts posted images and clips of the moment of impact.

Magen David Adom (MDA) reports that several people were lightly injured by debris or were treated for shock.

The Israeli army initially announced: “The Israel Defense Forces have detected the launch of a rocket from Yemen into Israeli territory. Air defense systems are deployed to intercept the threat. The public is asked to follow the defense directives of the Home Front Command.”

A few minutes later, the military provided an update, stating: “Following the sounding of sirens in several areas of Israel, a missile was fired from Yemen. Attempts were made to intercept the missile, and the results of the interception are currently being reviewed. The sirens were activated in accordance with protocol.”

Sirens were heard in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Petah Tikva, Ramat Gan, Netanya, Rishon Lezion, Modi’in, Herzliya, Kfar Saba, Ramat Hasharon, Bnei Brak, and other communities in central Israel.

Explosions were heard in Jerusalem.
