Israel Today in 2022

Israel Today Editor-in-Chief Aviel Schneider takes stock of the year that was, and looks forward to what comes next

Support faith-based Israeli journalism.

Another year has passed and again I would like to address you openly and directly. Every year has its pace, and 2021 seems to have sped by us. We have been reporting directly from Jerusalem for over 40 years. It all started in the 1970s with my father Ludwig Schneider’s blue press releases.

Much has changed over the years at Israel Today, because life is dynamic. This past year was not an easy one, but it motivated me to reorganize a lot. Unfortunately, our desert hikes have been canceled. Our “positive” reporting on Israel’s vaccination policy has not met with approval everywhere. I was forced to fire loyal employees for the first time. In order to remain financially viable, we had to rethink and adapt to the new situation. The dollar, which was once worth almost five shekels, is now worth just 3.1 shekels. For all of these reasons, revenue has dropped noticeably.

But there are also positive things to report. Our online community is growing, our website has the latest content every day and much more.

If you want to quickly look up something or be kept constantly up-to-date, it makes sense to do so with us on the Internet.

We all of us genuinely enjoy our work. But first and foremost we see it as a calling. There is no other news agency like ours that is based in Jerusalem and writes openly from the heart, soul and head. We are who we are. We are not an editorial team that writes what is expected of us. We want to get people to think. We are certain and trust God that we will continue to grow and succeed.

Together with the whole team from Jerusalem, I wish you a Happy New Year in 2022!
