
Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pushing hard toward the annexation of the Jordan Valley. Predictably, a lot of people are warning that such a move will only make peace more difficult to achieve and endanger the things Israelis say they want most–security.
But one Israeli expert insists that annexation will achieve precisely the opposite by breaking the peace process free of a decade of stagnation and sending the message that Israel will never compromise on its security.
Brig.-Gen. (ret.) Yossi Kuperwasser is a leading Israeli intelligence and security expert. In his military days, Kuperwasser headed the research division at the IDF Military Intelligence Directorate. More recently, he served as director general of the Ministry of Strategic Affairs.
Earlier this week he spoke to reporters during a press briefing hosted by the Jerusalem Press Club.
