MembersIsraelis ask: Why do Christians care so much about Israel?

As Israeli leaders seek to understand Christian support, a new initiative aims to build direct relationships rooted in shared biblical heritage, media cooperation, and trust.

Christian support for Israel is undeniable, and has been described by Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as one of the Jewish state’s most critical assets. Even so, few Israelis understand why Christians love and support them.

The point was raised by former senior Mossad official Sagiv Asulin at a recent event to connect local Israeli authorities with Christian media.

“I see these people who are deeply connected to the Land of Israel, to the people of Israel, and to the Torah of Israel. What surprised me the most was the fact that they were not Jews. So, I asked myself, why do they care so much?” Asulin told a packed room at the 2026 Muni Expo, an annual municipal innovation conference and exhibition.

“Where does this connection come from? Why are they so committed? Back then, and honestly even now, I’m not sure that I have all the answers,” he added.

The door is now open for Christians to boldly step...
