The Start-Up Nation of late is also playing host to a lot more businessmen from abroad. At the time of writing, a delegation of 200 Japanese businessmen is in the country meeting with Israel’s minister of finance.
Economic cooperation between Israel and Japan has grown tremendously in recent years, with exports to the Asian nation increasing by 42 percent just last year. Currently, most of these exports are medical and optical equipment, but in the very near future hi-tech innovations from Israel are expected to take the lead. During this most recent visit, a number of agreements were signed between local hi-tech companies and Japanese firms. Japanese companies have also been buying up Israeli hi-tech start-ups to the tune of billions of dollars. Most notably, NeuroDerm, Ormat and Viber have been acquired by companies in Japan.
