Following the Six Day War in 1967, all of Jerusalem became the sovereign capital of the State of Israel.

This happened for the first time since the Hasmoneans (Maccabees) controlled the city 2,140 years ago.

 

And while Israeli sovereignty is disputed, the heads of many states still come to Jerusalem for official visits. In the Jewish capital they conduct talks and sign treaties. Still, most of the world demands Jerusalem be divided and its eastern half turned into an Arab capital.

 

In the Gospel of Luke, the Lord Yeshua foretold that “Jerusalem will be trampled by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled” (21:24 emphasis added). These words became a reality after the miraculous revival of the “dry bones” (Ez. 37:1-14) in the State of Israel in 1948, and following the reunification of Jerusalem in June 1967. Israelis are again the sovereign authority in all Jerusalem. But the Bible tells us the world will never accept this situation.
