‘Netanyahu is good for the Arabs’? One IDF reservist’s campaign against Bibi

IDF reservists feel Netanyahu is again wavering in the face of American pressure, and that the war ultimately will not be won.

Benjamin Netanyahu is not a real right-winger. In fact, he might even be good for Israel’s enemies as he advances left-leaning policies. That’s the conclusion of at least one Israeli man who has launched a campaign with signs reading “Netanyahu is good for the Arabs.”

The signs have been showing up all over the Jerusalem area in recent days.

Until recently, no one was sure who was behind the campaign. The signs were identified as coming from the “Genesis Headquarters” (Mateh Bereshit).

Yesterday, the organizer revealed himself in an open letter and at least one media interview.

Uriah Luberbom is an activist for the Jewish settlement enterprise. He is also an IDF reserve soldier who has been on the front lines since the ground war in Gaza began. Prior to that, on the morning of October 7, he and a group of army buddies came to the Gaza periphery to help collect bodies in the aftermath of the Hamas invasion.

The criticisms he offers are not his alone. Luberbom told Israel Hayom that these are the things he’s hearing while talking to member of his unit and other IDF reservists in Gaza.

Luberbom’s open letter.

“Unfortunately, while we are engaged in intense fighting in Gaza against a Nazi enemy, at a high cost in blood, suffering great losses, and while our brothers and sisters remain in captivity, we feel like the lesson still has not been learned,” Luberbom wrote in his open letter. “We feel that the government of Israel continues to give rewards for terrorism, by providing food and fuel to the Nazis in Gaza. We see things returning to just as they were before.”

In the weeks immediately following the barbaric October 7 invasion, Israeli leader repeatedly vowed that this was a historic turning point, and that things would never return to how they were. But in more recent weeks, we have seen glimpses of politics as usual, and this frustrates those who are sacrificing everything for the future of the State of Israel.

In particular, Luberbom and his comrades are angered to see the government providing supplies to Gaza (which are promptly stolen by Hamas), demolishing unauthorized Jewish homes in Judea and Samaria (some of which belonged to reservists fighting in Gaza), and pretending as though the situation in the northern border isn’t as bad as it really is.

In short, the Netanyahu government is wavering in the face of American pressure, and the members of the group fear the war will not be won under the present circumstances.

In his letter, Luberbom listed the reasons he and the other reservists feel Netanyahu is “good for the Arabs” due to his acquiescence to international pressure:

  • When the blood-stained Kerem Shalom crossing is open at the height of the war – Netanyahu is good for the Arabs. (Kerem Shalom is one of the Gaza border crossings stormed by Hamas on Oct. 7. It is today being used to supply Gaza with humanitarian aid)
  • When they seek to bring [Palestinian] workers back into Israel and weaken security – Netanyahu is good for the Arabs.
  • While our captives still have not been visited by the Red Cross and no one is protesting this – Netanyahu is good for the Arabs.
  • When we are lowering the intensity of the war while 136 are still being held hostage – Netanyahu is good for the Arabs.
  • When we provide full meals to captured Hamas terrorists while our captives are given half a pita per day – Netanyahu is good for the Arabs.
  • When we do not decisively execute the campaign – Netanyahu is good for the Arabs.
  • When we do not seal the Philadelphia Strip (the border between Gaza and Egypt) – Netanyahu is good for the Arabs.
  • When we allow Al Jazeera to continue broadcasting and smearing IDF soldiers – Netanyahu is good for the Arabs.

In conclusion, they wrote:

“We, the members of Mateh Bereshit, who have been fighting already for 90 days shoulder-to-shoulder, call on the Israeli public to support the critical mission of decisively defeating Hamas and Hezbollah. Without left-wing or right-wing, without excuses or unnecessary discussion. Only actions will carry us forward.”
