On Sunday, Ulrich Siegmund achieved an impressive result of nearly 44% in the state election in Saxony-Anhalt – five years ago it was just 20%. No one in Germany will be able to escape the effects of such an electoral victory, even if the other parties still refuse to work with us. We are optimistic about forming a government. New elections or the willingness of members of other parties to join the AfD are entirely conceivable.
In light of these shifts in political power, the firewall will inevitably collapse, as our conservative, patriotic movement grows and people want change. The state elections on 20 September in Berlin and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will in all likelihood also deliver above-average results for the AfD. And as we have always said: we extend our hand and are ready to work with other parties to address pressing issues in Germany and make Germany a country worth loving and living in again.
