Palestinian State Would Be Oppressive Police State

Palestinian university student tries to highlight widespread human rights abuses by Palestinian Authority

A Palestinian university student has provided further evidence that an independent Palestinian state would be an oppressive police state. In fact, it already is.

Earlier this week, Emad Halayqa, a student at Beirzeit University in Ramallah, posted to Facebook that he would far rather be arrested by Israel than by the Palestinian Authority.

“The last time [PA] intelligence arrested me, one of their investigators told me: ‘I warn you not to tell anyone that we have beaten you,’” according to Halayqa.

Stories of widespread human rights violations in the Palestinian-controlled territories have been leaking out through social media for years. But few in the mainstream media pay them any attention.

The West is too invested in its grand scheme of a “two-state solution” to acknowledge that the Palestinian regime it created is anything but a peaceful and democratic entity.

“The democracy you talked about before the elections has been exposed in its ugliest character after the elections,” continued Halayqa, telling his own Palestinian government: “I am not your servant and I will not be. Send me the Jews. I wish they would arrest me and save me from your violations.”
