An Israeli family out for a Friday morning hike were hit by a terrorist bomb at a popular natural spring in Samaria.
Rina Shnerb, a 17-year-old resident of the central Israel town of Lod, was pronounced dead at the scene, and her father and 19-year-old brother were airlifted to Jerusalem in serious condition.
Security officials reported that the bomb had been planted ahead of time at the Bubin spring just outside the Jewish settlement of Dolev, and not far from the central Israel town of Modiin.
Like many of the natural springs in the area, Bubin is frequented by Israeli weekend hikers, a fact clearly well-known to the terrorists.
A car was reportedly seen fleeing the area shortly after the blast, and Israeli security forces are conducted a massive manhunt for the perpetrators of what local residents are calling a “serious escalation.”
