Terrorists operating out of southern Lebanon fired a missile at northern Israel during the predawn hours on Monday. The projectile landed near the Israeli border town of Shlomi, causing no injuries or damage.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded by unleashing an artillery barrage at the source of the terrorist rocket fire.
Israeli officials said they believe Palestinian factions were behind the rocket fire, and that it was linked to current unrest on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
Israel does not expect any further escalation on the northern border at this time.
Meanwhile, Hamas and its allied terrorists in the Gaza Strip continue their sporadic rocket fire at southern Israel.
Israel on Monday closed a border crossing into Gaza, and warned that if the rocket fire did not cease, the IDF would intensify its retaliatory strikes and possibly even launch a limited military operation in the coastal enclave.
