The constant slogans of victory have become empty words as reservists are withdrawn from Gaza while Hamas still breathes.

Government ministers preach victory, but tachles, the people feel and see something completely different. The people, the soldiers and reservists see less of the glorious victory that the government is so enthusiastic about. On the contrary, the pace of Israeli fighting in the Gaza Strip has slowed significantly and the reservists will be withdrawn by the end of January, the goals set by the government still far from achieved. The Hamas regime has not been crushed, and 136 hostages are still hidden somewhere in the underground tunnels. Everyone understands that the Israeli government is halting the Israeli army’s operational plans in Gaza, and this frustrates people. Yes, America is breathing down Israel’s neck and demanding a change of course in the war. From the American perspective, things cannot continue like this. And from Israel’s perspective, victory in the war is now out of reach. And that’s no joke.

  1. Vernon Ryan says:

The US should support Israel in its effort to destroy Hamas, not try to rule over Israel. There is a blessing in doing so, but, will the left/democrats be interested in being blessed? or will they seek the curse by turning their backs on Israel?

  2. James says:

There is an additional consideration. War in Lebanon is a much more important thing for the West than war in Gaza, especially because Iran will be heavily involved in it. The US/EU think that stopping the fighting in Gaza will enable Hezbollah to cease it’s attacks on Israel without loosing face. The same may be true for the Houthi’s. So, the West thinks, Gaza is the key to restoring ‘peace’ on other fronts. This is bad news, especially if it would work out in this way, because it will greatly hinder Israel to restore safety in the North. The best way forward for Israel would be to increase the war efforts in Gaza in order to achieve victory as soon as possible, while also beating Hezbollah mightily, not waisting the opportunity that Hezbollah’s attacks create. Of course, this is just an opinion…
