I imagine that many of you, like myself, are dizzied by the breakneck spin of breaking news, reports and analysis on wars, politics, economic crises, and troubles everywhere.
Every day another headline demands our attention. One expert tells us the world is on the brink of disaster. Politicians promise solutions. Commentators predict catastrophe. Social media amplifies every outrage, every triumph, and every rumor until you can’t tell the difference between what’s important and what’s merely loud.
Sometimes I wonder if we are not becoming stupider from an overload of information. Let’s take a moment and see if we can get a better look at what is going on in our world today. Let’s think about what we are thinking about.

Imagine we are living in the 15th century. You are writing a report about the most important events of times, because you are an intelligent person. (I know this because you are reading this.)

This is a truly wonderful, very proud text. Unfortunately, many (most?) people in a hedonistic society no longer understand it at all. They can no longer even draw the divine lineage from their parents to themselves. For them, “bat shnot alpayim” is “crazy” and beyond their comprehension.
I notice this constantly in my conversations, even when I don’t use the word “Elohim.” The result: wide-eyed stares, a complete lack of understanding, and even massive resistance. For their time is only NOW.
This problem, however, is not intellectual but political. There is a clash of cultures here that, by effectively rejecting history (and an understanding of G-d), excludes any justification for Jewish life in Israel and Judea/Samaria.
This problem is exacerbated by a large Jewish community that has decided not to live in Israel.
Could we surmise that the growing hatred of Jews (framed as anti-Semitism) is once again HIS work? To lead Jewish people from all over the world back to HIS land?
