Members‘The Lord gives and takes away’ – Time to resettle Gaza, say Israeli ministers

The Gaza ‘disengagement’ has proved folly; is the answer now to resettle Jews in Gaza, or is it a ‘messianic’ pipe dream?

The international community calls Jewish settlements Israel’s greatest liability, and the primary obstacle to peace. Right-wing Israelis insist that it’s settlement of the land that brings security. And after the events of October 7, 2023, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to ignore their arguments.

To the chagrin of liberal Israeli society and much of the Western world, the argument for resettlement of the Gaza Strip was on full display at a “Victory Conference” in Jerusalem on January 28.

Even more troubling to those who still believe a two-state solution is viable was the fact that the conference was attended by no fewer than 12 government ministers and 15 members of the Knesset, and many of them openly supported the movement to return Jews to Gaza and deny the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Hate to say ‘I told you so’

Those who carried out or supported the disengagement from Gaza will say that it had the backing of national consensus. That’s debatable. Even in 2005, many Israelis were opposed to the move, and today that number has without doubt increased by...

  2. Disciple 1978 says:

Possessing the land is a spiritual direction that’s in contrast to a worldly inheritance. Think of it this way; The earth is God’s garden and he reasonably expects the inhabitants to look after it. He made it “good” which, in his view, means holiness, truth and justice must prevail or else he will remove the bad tenants and replace them with others.

  3. Disciple 1978 says:

The Canaanites and many other empires have been removed as ungodly paganism has been replaced by either a more godly Judaism or Christianity. However, the battle still rages and paganism has become resurgent as globalism uses its religious, economic and political power to reassert mystery Babylon. Islam is the weapon of choice against those who hold biblical values, be they Jew or Christian. Obviously nominal Jews and Christians aren’t even taken seriously. So, Israel, and eventually Christians, must possess the world and its land ensuring that biblical values prevail. The entire power of God is available to us in this task, and the Captain of the Lord’s Host personally leads us in the task. So, Israel, possess the land.
