Lately I have been hearing the name “Amikam” a lot in my head. The name consists of two words in Hebrew:
Ami – my people
Kam – is waking up, is arising
For the last few decades, this name was rarely given; but it’s meaning is so relevant: awakening!
Waking up today is opening one’s eyes to understand reality afresh. This reality may have already existed, but it was convenient for us to turn a blind eye to it, because it did not match the illusion of the “good, stable and comfortable life” we thought we had. It means… Awakening to understand that not only do they want to take the country, but they also want to destroy us all. Awakening to realize that Jew-hatred has not disappeared from the world. On the contrary, it has become the “in” thing all over the globe. Awakening to comprehend that just as there was silent apathy historically in the face of many horrors, so too today there is the same silence and the same disregard.

An awakening to being united with God’s Word is foremost! People can be united in purpose and still be at odds with God’s purpose.
Are more and more Israelis are moving to the centre because HaShem is at the heart of Israel ?
