MembersTwitter and the Notoriously-Deceptive Palestinian Narrative

Some of the allegations are so absurd that one marvels at how anyone could take them seriously

A colleague recently alerted me to an interesting Palestinian Twitter account and suggested that I write a commentary on it. I opened the link and took a good look at the content. Now and then I even had to supress a smile.

Some of the allegations on this pro-Palestinian and anti-Israeli portal are so absurd that they cannot possibly be taken seriously. I was almost shocked when I saw some of the texts and pictures that were posted on this account. However, from my experience in local journalism, above all in social media, it really was nothing new. In this conflict the truth is routinely distorted and manipulated, and outright lies are told on a daily basis. But what amazes me every time is just how many people both here and around the world who believe these obvious deceptions, seemingly without giving it any thought or questioning the information.
