The United States continued its airstrikes against military targets in Iran overnight into Tuesday. According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the attacks targeted command centers, missile and drone launch sites, maritime capabilities, and air defense systems of the Iranian regime.

The latest wave of attacks concluded on Monday evening (US Eastern Time). This marked the tenth consecutive night of US attacks against Iran.

According to the US regional command, the attacks are intended to further restrict Iran’s military capabilities to threaten or attack merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

“The American armed forces remain in position and ready to hold Iran accountable for unjustified attacks on civilian seafarers who want to pass through the strait freely and unhindered,” CENTCOM declared.

According to the US military, American forces have supported the safe passage of around 900 merchant ships since the beginning of May, transporting a total of about 450 million barrels of crude oil.

CENTCOM had already announced the start of the new wave of attacks on Monday, stating that the operations were being carried out on the orders of US President Donald Trump . The aim was to destroy those military capabilities of the Iranian regime that are used to attack international shipping.

Iranian state media reported explosions in the south of the country, including in the Bandar Abbas and Sirik areas. Tehran did not initially release any official information about possible damage or casualties. Independent confirmation of these reports was also not immediately available.
