
In the midst of the controversy over the Regulation Law for Judea and Samaria (see page 3), a notable Palestinian cleric is saying things that contradict the worldview of the international community. “A two state solution does not make any sense,” says Sheikh Abu Khalil al Tamimi in an interview with Israel Today editor-in-chief Aviel Schneider. “We want to live under Israeli democracy as equal citizens in Palestine.”
Tamimi is the spiritual leader of the Islamic fundamentalist Salafist sect in the Palestinian territories and a member of the Sharia Court. “Palestinians,” he says, “are afraid to speak about their true feelings to the media.”
