
Seventy-four percent of the high-paying jobs in the hi-tech sector belong to this particular group, while young, secular Jewish women control a further 24 percent of those positions.
The nation’s Arab population is barely represented in this industry, holding a mere 1.4 percent of the available jobs, though they account for 11 percent of the overall workforce. The remaining 0.6 percent of jobs in the hitech sector are held by Orthodox Jewish Israelis.
In essence, the report reflects the population of the two most important industrialized cities in Israel: Tel Aviv and Haifa. The populations of these cities correspond exactly to the report on the hi-tech industry’s demographics. Most of the residents are, indeed, young, secular Jews.
